Tour Overview

ITINERARY

Day 1: Istanbul – Fly to Denizli/Pamukkale 

Very early morning transfer to Istanbul Airport for a direct flight to Denizli. On arrival, drive to the delightful “frozen waterfalls” and the healing hot mineral springs of Pamukkale, the main cotton growing area of Turkey and an ancient health resort for the Roman. Also visit the ancient city of Hieropolis (“Holy City”), situated atop the Pamukkale hot springs. These hot springs have served as a thermal bath since the 2nd century B.C. Overnight in Pamukkale.

 

Day 2:  Pamukkale / Aphrodisias / Ephesus

A scenic one-hour drive north, through picturesque countryside to Aphrodisias (UNESCO World Heritage Site), an ancient city dedicated to the goddess of love. Home to a renowned school of sculpture that influenced the Roman world, this site features the exquisite Temple of Aphrodite and one of antiquity’s most impressive stadiums. Wander through this well-preserved Anatolian treasure, exploring the Tetrapylon, the Theater, and the Museum.

After lunch break, we begin on a two-hour drive through the fertile landscapes of Menderes to Ephesus, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. This remarkably well-preserved classical city stands as a testament to its immense size and grandeur. Founded by Ionian Greeks in the 11th century BCE and further enhanced during Roman rule, Ephesus held significant religious importance throughout its history. Overnight in Selcuk or Kusadasi.

As an option, discover the remarkable Terrace Houses (Villas) nestled on the slopes of Mt. Coressus within the city of Ephesus for a captivating glimpse into Roman-era family life.

 

Day 3: Fly to Istanbul

Following breakfast, you’ll transfer to Izmir International Airport for your flight back to Istanbul. If you wish to extend your journey, you have the option to add extra night(s) in Izmir, allowing for exploration of nearby areas like Cesme, Alacati, Urla, Pergamon, and Sardes.
