Tour Overview

ITINERARY

Day 1: Van

On arrival in Van, you will be met by your guide and taken to your hotel, where you can relax and prepare for the adventure ahead. Van is renowned for its picturesque scenery, with the magnificent Lake Van being the largest in Turkey and surrounded by soaring snow-capped peaks. It is also home to rare species of fish. Overnight Van.

 

Day 2: Van

Today, you will have the opportunity to explore the bustling city of Van and its surrounding area. A highlight of the day will be a visit to Akdamar Island, which is home to the Church of the Holy Cross, an Armenian church that dates back to the 10th century. This splendid structure is renowned for its exquisite stone carvings, which are sure to inspire and fascinate visitors.

 

Day 3: Dogubeyazit

Today’s journey will take you along the lake shore and then on to the historic city of Kars via the charming town of Doğubeyazıt, located near the Turkish border with Iran. Here, you will have the opportunity to visit the magnificent Ishak Pasha Palace, an Ottoman-era palace that has been meticulously preserved over the centuries. It’s impossible to miss the imposing bulk of Agri Dagi (Mount Ararat) that dominates the landscape and rises of 5137 metres (16, 854 feet) and our route continues across its flanks to Kars, set among vast highland steppe. Overnight in Kars a city rich in cultural and historical heritage.

 

Day 4: Kars

A day trip to the ancient city of Ani awaits you today, located near the Turkish-Armenian border. Ani was once a thriving medieval city and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, boasting a plethora of churches, mosques, and other historical landmarks. You will have the opportunity to explore this extraordinary site and witness its fine red stone architecture before returning to Kars for another night.

 

Day 5: Erzurum

Today, you will travel to Erzurum, a city nestled in a breathtaking and wild mountainous region of known as the Palandoken. Erzurum is renowned for its magnificent architecture, including the 12th-century Çifte Minareli Medrese, an Islamic theological school featuring two towering minarets. Overnight Erzurum , taking in the cultural richness of this unique destination.

 

Day 6: Trabzon

On the final day of your tour, you will continue your journey to the captivating coastal city of Trabzon, located on the Black Sea. Trabzon is celebrated for its stunning natural beauty, especially the Sumela Monastery, a Greek Orthodox monastery perched on a cliff overlooking a deep valley swathed in lush forests. You will spend the night in Trabzon, before departing the next day.
